Red Reign: Red Reign EP

I had absolutely no knowledge of Red Reign before listening to "Not That Way"in admittedly, at first a not entirely motivated way. I soon pricked up as the song, described by the band's singer, Carlton "Bubba" McMichael as "one of those songs that is about a love gone bad and then the girl realizes she made a mistake in our relationship and wants to get back into the same relationship she poisoned. But the guy has gotten over her and moved on," got into its groove. It's a tasty piece of almost metal with a good hook and guitar motif which is insistent throughout. Whilst the opener is the standout, all the tracks mix a modern rock sensibility with a hint of classic rock which makes for quite a satisfying package all the way from Virginia – not exactly world-changing but more than listenable.
