California's Night Demon burst on the scene in 2015 with their debut full-length for Century Media, Curse of the Damned, a raging slice of NWOBHM love that gave much of the metal community a swift kick up the rear end, and they are back two years later with the equally enjoyable Darkness Remains. Once again, the influences of Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Satan, Tygers of Pan Tang, and Thin Lizzy abound, the bands sound driven by crisp 'n' crunchy riffing, blazing lead guitar solos, powerful grooves, and strong vocals, as well as a penchant for crafting catchy melodies.
Comprised of bassist/vocalist Jarvis Leatherby, guitarist Armand John Anthony, and drummer Dusty Squires. Night Demon once again show their ability to deliver memorable, classic metal anthems, and they are abundant throughout Darkness Remains. "Maiden Hell" and "Hallowed Ground" will take you all the way back to 1982, filled with splendid double bass drum kicks and a wealth of breakneck riffs and sizzling solos, while the more mid paced cruncher "Stranger in the Room" is pure fist pumping metal, the riffs almost doomy, the lead work screaming, and Leatherby's vocals spectacular. Hook laden speed metal can be found on the galloping "Dawn Rider", and "Black Widow" is majestic NWOBHM worship at its very best. Toss in the Lizzy/Maiden styled instrumental "Flight of the Manticore" and the ultra catchy ripper "Welcome to the Night", and what you have is another tremendous throwback metal album from this potent US trio, who are quickly becoming one of the must see & hear acts on the heavy metal circuit.
