The Greece based metal band Doomocracy was formed by the trio of drummer Minas Vasilakis, guitarist Angelos Tzanis and vocalist Michael Stavrakakis. They got the ball rolling in 2011 and with the addition of a bass player and a second guitarist their line-up was completed. Doomocracy's first album The End is Written was then released in 2014, and they are soon to follow that album with Visions And Creatures Of Imagination. With a name like Doomocracy they sure are up front with their music of choice, and they really are a welcome addition to the Doom ranks. I did check out Doomocracy's debut and besides the fact that it's also an impressive album of the doom kind the cover art for both The End is Written and Visions And Creatures Of Imagination really is quite striking. Fans of Candlemass and similar groups should take a listen to the powerful and melodic doom metal of Doomocracy. Visions And Creatures Of Imagination is not the kind of doom album that remains in go slow mode, Doomocracy do have an upbeat side that they implement with great effect and it's not all straightforward patterns as the band displays their musical finesse. Those clean melodic vocals are also very appealing as is the way the songs are structured and how everything comes together so effectively. The end result is an album that is far from predictable and very enjoyable.
