Kyros, formerly known as Synaesthesia hail from the United Kingdom. The young band's debut was a revelation for this reviewer as was their latest release Vox Humana. Before the release of said album the band released the maxi-single Cloudburst featuring slightly different versions of the song. The original track is a melodic slice of modern progressive rock featuring addicting synthesizers and guitars and Warne's melodious lead vocals. There are five tracks, the first four being alternate takes of "Cloudburst" with a total running time of thirty-one minutes. I am not going to dissect every track. Really, what you need to know is this is a really great tune and these versions add some interesting instrumental bits to the original. In a perfect world this song could be a hit with the larger music community as it is so darn catchy while still adhering to its progressive qualities. This is modern prog and there is no doubting the alternative poppy undertones. The most 'changed' version has to be the "Feature Length Mix" featuring a myriad of electronics, sometimes venturing into EDM style and more ethereal sounds, especially at the beginning.
The last track "I Don't Know How" features treated lead vocals and drums that sound really cool. The band explores the smart use of electronics, further evolving their sound. Kyros knows how to write catchy alternative proggy music that has the potential to appeal to a broad spectrum of rock fans.
