Xibalba: Diablo, Con Amor… Adios
One of my dreams is to catch this band in concert. I've been listening to them for a few years now but I always seem to miss them on the road. They even stopped in Utah once but it was on the one night I couldn't go (of course). Despite my failure to catch them on the road, I never miss a chance to listen to their music. It was actually a year ago that the band released Tierra Y Libertad, one of their finest albums thus far. With this EP, the band gives listeners more of their signature heavy riffs, their powerful sound, and their solid songwriting. The band mostly plays in a slow tempo but they occasionally speed things up. On this release, Xibalba proves, once again, that they do sludge, doom, and speed perfectly. This is essential listening—a taste of what this band does right. Check out the cover art by Dan Seagrave!
