Brutally Deceased: Satanic Corpse

I rarely describe guitars in terms of chainsaws, but this album demands that I do so anyway. Brutally Deceased has a sound that is so intense and so powerful that I can only think in terms of tools—and the destructive glee of demolition day. This album came out in late 2016 and received quite a bit of positive press. I can only add to the glee over this one. The music here is largely done within the classic tradition of Swedish death metal but Brutally Deceased is never derivative. Instead, they just play for the sheer joy and intensity of the music. The songwriting is solid and the guitar solos are breathtaking. And the cover art on this release (by Paolo Girardi) is just what this album needed. This is a highly recommended new release by a superb death metal band.
