Secrets And Sins is the second album by the Greek group False Coda, Secrets And Sins features a different lead vocalist Stefanos Zafeiropoulos (ex- Conspiranoia) to their prior album, and also a guest appearance by guitarist Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, ex-Nevermore) who shreds it up on the slow and potent track "Monolith" which is nice addition. Although their own guitarist is also a capable player as is their keyboardist and the two really add to the appeal of tracks like "Secrets and Sins". False Coda came to be when drummer Andreas Milios and guitarist Vasilis Milios whom just happen to brothers formed this progressive metal group in 2009, and eventually they released their debut Closer To The Edge in 2014. Rounding out False Coda's line-up are bass player Nikos Pogkas and keyboardist Lefteris Kapetanios. The sounds of the orient gets the album underway with "Thrones Of Blood" and False Coda's heavy and melodic metal kicks in with some Dream Theater inspiration along the way although this a band that have a wide taste in music, with many influences of ranging styles and vintages not just limited to progressive groups. Vocals are powerful and clean with some harsher input that isn't at all necessary, and they do nothing to benefit the likes of "Monolith" and "Moment". This is far from a bad album my rating confirms that, but it's just lacking that something that makes you want to venture back regularly.
