It's debut time for Degrees Of Truth an Italian group that plays progressive and symphonic metal, Degrees Of Truth haven't wasted anytime releasing their first album The Reins Of Life as they formed only just last year. One thing is for sure as listening to The Reins Of Life Degrees Of Truth isn't a female fronted band that are short on ideas. Lead vocalist Claudia Nora Pezzatto combines her operatic style with the shifting music effectively, and that music is also very agreeable with the varied instrumental which mixes classical, metal and rock music called "Subtle Borderline" being a highlight another is the song "Civilization". The title track and closer "Pillar Of Hope" are the longest at over ten minutes with "The Reins Of Life" being the stronger of the two. There are talented performers in this group for sure, although The Reins Of Life is one of those albums that doesn't quite cut it for myself as a total package as I just find myself tuning in and out. Which is a shame as there are parts that I do like that are really impressive when the band livens it up and spreads their musical wings.
