Lovecraft, H. P. : The Lurking Fear

I've tried to keep up with all of Cadabra Records's releases. In 2016, there have been four limited-release albums that feature readings of stories by H. P. Lovecraft. I recently posted my review of "Pickman's Model," the latest offering. All of these records are beautifully packaged and feature art inspired by the author and the tale in question. The recordings all sound great and offer a very entertaining and chilling performance of one or more of Lovecraft's tales by Andrew Leman. This release also includes an ambient and effective soundtrack by the metal band Theologian.

"The Lurking Fear" doesn't always get the recognition it deserves, especially from readers who want to dive in to "The Call of Cthulhu" without exploring other strong works by the author. I think Cadabra Records chooses its selections carefully and, given the quality of the recordings, I think anything they offer will be worth the time and money to enjoy them. "The Lurking Fear" is vintage Lovecraft and will likely be enjoyed by anyone looking for a good weird tale performed effectively and written by one of the modern masters of this style.
