Wovenwar: Honor Is Dead

The former members of As I Lay Dying, have bonded together and risen up as the new incarnate called, Wovenwar. Their Sophomore release is titledHonor Is Dead (Metal Blade Records), and the band has found a way to continue their heavy ways while infusing an equally heavy dose of melody to push themselves to the next level.

Their roots of Metalcore are still there, but they take more of a backseat to more aggressive riffing that is delivered with a more melodic touch that never loses their heaviness from their debut record. It's a more mature Wovenwar, if you will. Confrontational is the word that comes to mind and with the maniacal pace of much of this record, "Honor Is Dead" should find a home with the Metal brethren out there. Tunes like the crushing groove and hooky chorus of "Censorship", the no holds barred lead track that is "Confession" or the brooding, industrial flavored and emotional pleading of "Compass", the Sophomore Wovenwar have really grown up and they are angrily riffing it up throughout.

Songs on Honor Is Dead are quite infectious and tend to roll into one another until the album is over and you don't even realize it. This Wovenwar is mean, heavier and it makes for an excellent record.
