Pain: Coming Home

Pain, the Swedish Industrial Metal outfit led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Peter Tagtgren (producer of Children of Bodom, Hypocrisy and Rammstein's Lindermann's solo project) have released their follow up to their 2011 release with their 10 track effort entitled, Coming Home. This grinding and multi-genre crossing album delivers some interesting Industrial flair while also invoking some equally outside the box Electronic melodies.

Coming Home dabbles with some Symphonic exploration on the tunes, "Call Me" and "Starseed", something that you wouldn't normally think of in the Industrial realm and even takes you on a psychedelic trip with the aptly named, "Absinthe Phoenix Rising". Songs have an almost hypnotic quality to them at times with a depth and discovery. Tagtgren also enlists his 17 year old drummer of a son to play on the title track, "Coming Home", as well as Sabaton's Joakim Broden for his powerfully raw vocals on the afore mentioned "Call Me".

All and all, Pain's Coming Home is a somewhat intriguing release that does offer moments of boredom, albeit executed well and produced immaculately. While this modern Industrial Metal album isn't a trendsetter or revolutionary, it is of high quality and followers of previous Pain releases will be right at home with it.
