Here we have the video version of the excellent Johnny Winter concert Live in Sweden 1987 featuring special guest Dr. John on piano & vocals. If you read our recent of the CD, you'll be happy to know the complete TV recording is here on this DVD, so you can see Winter with his trio, along with Dr. John, playing spirited versions of "Sound the Bell" (containing perhaps the most lethal solos from the late guitar master in this set), "Don't Take Advantage of Me", "You Lie Too Much", and a rousing rendition of The Rolling Stones classic "Jumpin' Jack Flash". During much of the mid/late '80s, Johnny was playing one of the then new Steinberger guitars, and his fingers are flying up and down the fretboard on this compact guitar throughout this performance, though he does pull out his trusty Gibson Firebird for the slide guitar rave-up "Mojo Boogie".
The video and audio quality is pretty decent, though there is a slight lag on the synch between the two that is a tad distracting at times. No bonus features are included save for a brief clip of the Johnny Winter And band ripping it up on "Prodigal Son", but the quality is awful and it's been edited, so it's more of a tease than anything else. Overall this is fun live document of the late, legendary blues rock guitar wizard back when he was still cranking out some pretty exciting stuff.
