Masters Of Evil is the compelling new Denner/Shermann metal album by the acclaimed guitarist's Michael Denner and Hank Shermann of Mercyful Fate. Also included in the line-up is vocalist Sean Peck (Cage, Death Dealer), bass player Marc Grabowski (ex. Corruption, Demonica) and drummer Snowy Shaw (ex. Dream Evil, Therion, King Diamond). Who knows when or if we will see another Mercyful Fate album, and come to think of it hasn't it been quite a while since we heard a new King Diamond studio release? So for the fans here is your opportunity to hear some great metal tunes from two guys who are such a large part of Mercyful Fate.
The first release to give us a taste of Denner/Shermann was an E.P. titled Satan's Tomb which came out only last year and was positively received and now they have impressed again with Masters Of Evil. The powerful music is the star attraction here with that enthralling input from the talented axe duo as they cut loose with a generous serving of those classic riffs and solos ripping it up on exciting tracks like "The Wolf Feeds At Night". Also from what I've heard of Snowy Shaw's drumming previously this is some of his best work on Masters Of Evil as he gets very animated on dynamic numbers such as the opener "Angel's Blood". Vocally while Masters Of Evil would have been awesome album with the King, it's still a solid outing from Sean Peck showing that he is a capable vocalist with a wide range, one which he sure gets to utilize.
There's enough quality metal on Masters Of Evil to keep many a classic metal fan happy so be sure to give it a go.
