Sarabante: Poisonous Legacy

Greece is home to some of the very best and very worst of the human experience. In recent years, the country has struggled with all manner of political woes, none of which seem to be ending any time soon. With Poisonous Legacy, Sarabante takes up the problem of modern Greece with plenty of anger, aggression, and power. But this album isn't just anger in a bottle; it's an effective set of tracks that understands what hardcore music is capable of. As I listened, I was especially struck with the powerful line (taken from George Orwell's 1984) that, unless challenged directly, the future will feel only like a giant boot pressing down on our faces. Hardcore fights against those repressive forces.

Sarabande's latest is masterful and powerful. This is hardcore done right. Listen to "Final Warning" "Mneme's Amaurosis" and the last two tracks.
