As much as the bands that appear on this album have all collaborated really well to deliver a clever collection of songs, I must confess to personally becoming a little tired of the whole tribute album concept.
Having said that however, there are some stunning performances, particularly the opener, "Freedom" played by Sun Caged who rip this particular song to shreds with their amazing arrangements of a Hendrix classic. The dexterous digits as heard on the opening minute of "Gypsy Eyes" followed by some insanely clever keyboard work by Mistheria are equally impressive.
Cyril Achard does a great job with "Highway Chile" while Arabesque add a nice feminine touch with their interpretation of "Cross Town Traffic". Eric Sands sounds closer to the real thing than anyone else on this album although Lars Eric Mattsson plays some inspiring guitar on his contribution, "Spanish Castle Magic." In all honesty, there is not a bad track at all amongst the 13 offered here as it is clearly the diverse style of arrangements that will hold the strongest appeal. To what extent you can tolerate yet another tribute album is clearly up to you.
