Hissing: Hissing 7"

Listening to the music here once only takes about 12 minutes, but this isn't something to put on and enjoy casually. Like the band's namesake, the music on this release comes in short but serious bursts; it isn't meant to be friendly or welcoming, only cautionary. The music here is mostly a crushing blow to the senses, one immersed in sludgy sounds but also teeming with darkness. The vocals, a series of despairing growls, lurk just below the center of things. The music reflects the conditions of modern urban life, its crowds, its chaos, and its impersonality. The middle section of "Husk" is frenzied and exciting in ways that evoked the excitement and anxiety of living in the big city. Check it out!
