Here we have a Brazilian power metal group called Dark Avenger, and no despite having such a name they are not a band of superheroes, not that I'm aware of anyway. Dark Avenger now have a reissue of their earlier album Tales Of Avalon: The Lament. It sure is looking like positive times for Dark Avenger and their fans having signed to Scarlet Records and besides Tales Of Avalon: The Lament there will also be a new album released later on this year.
Described as "a play in two acts" Tales Of Avalon: The Lament was the bands fourth release and originally appeared in 2013, although this is the second in the series you have to go all the way back to 2001 to find when the first album Tales Of Avalon: The Terror was released. Powerful epic metal is Dark Avenger's music of choice and while not without rapid tunes "Doomsday Night" is one such speedster Tales Of Avalon: The Lament isn't what you would call an album fixated on speed. There are many slow/mid paced tracks like the melodic "The Knight On The Hill" where their vocalist leads the way with a stirring performance. Sure Tales Of Avalon: The Lament isn't a groundbreaking album and perhaps not every track will blow you away but the best songs are very good indeed, and I can see why it was been given another run.
