Via Vengeance: Harsh Conditions

The title of this album is perfect. Like a road sign warning of bad things ahead, this title points to the waste and despair and gloom of where things are going. And they are harsh conditions indeed. The music here is dark and slow and brooding. The music is created by Shane Ocell, the drummer of Sorxe, a sludge band from Phoenix, Arizona. I've never listened to Sorxe (don't worry, I'll check them out) but I will definitely listen to Via Vengeance whenever I get the chance.

This album, as the titles will quickly reveal, has winter survival at its core. The nice thing about the album is that it feels immersive, as though the experience of listening actually conveys the mood of being trapped, alone, in harsh conditions.

Ocell plays all the instruments on this one, but there are some guests, including Ocell's grandmother, BJ Scott. Josh Graham from A Storm of Light also has a guest spot.

Get lost in this one!
