Pratt; John: Turn The Page

A respected producer and songwriter for television and radio, John Pratt has been recording music for nigh on thirty years through his bands Roxbury Drive and Fireflry. Encouraged to finally release the highlights of his solo endeavours, which have sat in the vaults for many year, John came up with his 13 favourite songs and set about rerecording them. Unlike many projects these days though, John hasn't gone down the one man band route, instead bringing together a talented group of musicians who have between them performed with The Gregg Rollie Band, The Storm, Tom Petty, Toto, The Black Crowes, Cher and Foreigner amongst others. Not content with that John also enlisted hugely respected producer Ryan Greene to help polish the songs, resulting in a classy set of Americana meets AOR that should interest melodic rock fans, whilst having chart cross-over potential.

Utilising a style that is slick and smooth, these songs are expertly put together and sound stunning with nods towards Toto, Mike + The Mechanics and John Elefante, giving a very classy impression indeed. The effect doesn't wear off either, partly due to the well thought through arrangements and partly to John's excellent vocal delivery. This is great stuff and for anyone with an interest in classy smooth AOR come melodic rock, John Pratt is undoubtedly a name to look out for.
