Vocalist Michael Vescera (Obsession, ex.Loudness/Malmsteen) and drummer John Macaluso (ex. Malmsteen, Ark, TNT) will be two familiar names to many having contributed their impressive abilities to many recordings over the years. Now they appear on another, that album is Rock Of Daedalus and it's by the rock/metal band Bastian, an Italian metal group that was formed in 2003 by guitarist/songwriter Sebastiano Conti. Rock Of Daedalus is the second album by the band following their debut Among My Giants an album which featured many guest appearances.
Rock Of Daedalus isn't an album without highlights, the ballsy rocking number "Strange Thoughts" is one of those stronger tracks which aren't exactly prevalent, another is "Vlad" I do like that heavier guitar tone on this one. Until I received this release I hadn't heard of Bastian and it was the inclusion of Vescera and Macaluso that tweaked my interest. Though on the flipside when I think back Rock Of Daedalus is nowhere near the most compelling release that they have been involved with. I'm not quite sure if Rock Of Daedalus is the kind of album that will serve to significantly increase this band's popularity, it's not one that I'm compelled to revisit often.
