Striker: Stand In The Fire

From the 'City of Champions', otherwise known as the city that Wayne Gretzky built, Edmonton, Alberta in Western Canada, are the awesome Metal band, Striker. Striker have just released their 4th full length album, Stand In The Fire (Record Breaking Records) which is a Metal assault on the senses that is heavy on stellar guitar work, great vocals and catchy Metal flair that will get stuck in your head.

Consisting of equal parts of great old school Speed and Melodic Metal, Striker have a winner with Stand In The Fire. Songs like the super catchy and 80's feel of "United" and the powerful and soaring vocals from Dan Cleary on the album opener, "Phoenix Lights", Striker make a powerful statement on this record. There are rippin' guitar solos all over the album from Tim Brown, with his spotlight being on the aptly titled, "Escape From Shred City", where Brown delivers a great tone and some slick chops. Striker are rounded out by the air tight rhythm section of Adam Brown on drums and William Wallace on bass. "Out For Blood" is a freight train of song with a sick riff that just smokes and there's even a killer Saxophone solo! Yes..a Saxophone solo on a Metal record and it works, just check out the kewl stuff that Ihsahn has done with a Sax if you need proof!

Striker really cover the gamut of Metal on Stand In The Fire. The 11 tracks go from the unrelenting, "Outlaw" to the almost radio friendly and hook laden, "Too Late" and the entire record has great vocals with great melody even in the heaviest of songs. Stand In The Fore is almost a Thrash Metal Alternative disc, with all of the fury that a Metal fan desires with the melodic sense that gives the songs a great memorable quality. Stand In The Fire is an excellent record both musically and sonically, and is a consistently awesome throughout with enough torching guitar pyro to make anyone happy, as well as being diverse enough to have something to please everyone. If you dig newer Exodus, 80's era Priest or even Suicidal Tendencies you need to check out this record!
