The New Black: A Monster's Life

German Rockers, The New Black, have released their 4th full length record entitled, A Monster's Life (AFM Records), and a monster of a hard hitting disc it is. Featuring 10 tracks of full throttled, no bullshit Hard Rock/Metal, The New Black have a swagger that is backed up with muscular and classic themed riffage that will have fans of AC/DC, Shinedown and BLS listening to this new album quite intently. It is eerily so good!

From the outset of the opening track, "Long Time Coming" with its powerful thumping riff, drum pounding and great melody that is catchy as all hell, there is no way that the chorus won't get stuck in your head for the rest of the day. You quickly realize that this is some good shit right here. These guys keep the pedal to the metal and take no shortcuts and simply continue to pummel you song after catchy song. "Blockbuster Life" and especially the killer, "With A Grin" with its sleazy groove and that catchy and singalong-able hook is just infectious. Great heartfelt vocals are delivered by singer, Fludid, and remind me of a heavier and ballsier Brent Smith of Shinedown, while the rest of the band is rounded out by Fabian Schwarz-Guitar, Christof Leim-Guitar, Günt Auschrat-Bass and Chris Weiss-Drums.

A record that hits hard with a nasty groove and is filled with songs that just don't seem to get old doesn't come around every week. Other smoking tracks like the uber catchy and ferocious, "Dead In The Water" and then there's the song that hasn't gotten out of my head in 3 weeks, "Budda Belly". Damn the main riff in this song is just downright bad ass and with a slow groove that won't quit. "The Beer of No Return" is another great example of what these riff heavy Germans are made of, not to mention a clever song title.

The New Black are a wicked combination of heaviness, groove and melody and very simply have ten tracks of no dead weight. A Monster's Life is easily one of my favorite records of early 2016 and it has yet to leave my car after almost a month of heavy rotation. This an excellent Heavy Rock album that crushes from the word go and doesn't let go until the record is over. There are EPIC hooks, HUGE riffs and awesome songs throughout this record. A Monster's Life is a M@therf%cker of awesomeness!! I love it!
