Septagon is the bastard child of the union of Lanfear guitarist Markus Ullrich & drummer Jurgen Schrank with Atlantean Kodex vocalist Markus Becker, who have formed this throwback thrash metal project along with bassist Alexander Palma and guitarist Stef Binnig-Gollub. Their brand new release for Cruz Del Sur is titled Deadhead Syndicate, and features 9 tracks of polished '80s/'90s styled thrash that will appeal to any fan of Heathen, Artillery, Anthrax, Exodus, Forbidden, Testament, and Annihilator.
Plenty of guitar acrobatics abound on tunes like "Exit...Gunfire", "Revolt Agains the Revolution", and the blazing "Ripper", while "Henchman of Darkness" has a doomier vibe that falls more in line with Becker's main band. As for the singer, his clean, melodic vocals are quite good here, though some might argue that they should require more of a bite, which he does show on the raging "Unwanted Company" and the Megadeth sounding "Secret Silver Panorama Machine". Overall, Deadhead Syndicate is a more than capable modern thrash album with a healthy nod to the glory years, and one I can easily recommend.
