Delain: Lunar Prelude

I have to confess that I am very much a fan of Dutch symphonic metal act Delain, I've seen them live, possess all their albums so this is probably a slightly less than balanced review of what is in essence merely a stop gap EP. Mastered by Grammy Award winning Ted Jensen (although the natural Delain sound is pretty huge anyway,) Lunar Prelude's major selling pints are two brand spanking new songs in the shape of the fairly typical catchy but bombastic "Suckerpunch" and the melancholic "Turn The Lights Out", which features all the tasty keyboard fills which one has come to expect from the band. "Don't Let Go" (originally from 2014`s The Human Contradiction) comes in a brand new version and the EP also contains four live cuts, as well as an orchestral reprise of "Suckerpunch" which is probably not the better version but as a stop gap exercise this is well worth investigating. My appetite is well and truly wetted for the new album due later this year.
