My Wild Heaven: Laika

My Wild Heaven, aka Bill Bechtel, is an American musician hailing from Tampa Bay, Florida. Laika is a CD single containing the tune "Laika", a tribute to Laika, the first animal to be launched into orbit. The launch of Sputnik 2 occurred on Nov. 3, 1957 and unfortunately Laika died shortly after liftoff due to overheating. "Laika" was issued to commemorate the occasion released by Longview Records. It's a short three minute tune drenched in dense layers of Mellotron and guitar. The electric sitar also adds a nice touch. It is difficult to give a rating to only one song but three stars will have to suffice. Hopefully next time there will be a full album to absorb so as to get a bigger picture of where this band is coming from.
