The Rise of Marduk is the third full length release from Nevada's very own Blasphemous Creation, and once again sees the four piece straddling that fine line between death metal, black metal, and thrash with their speedy, Sumerian themed extreme metal. Somewhere in between vintage Sodom, Angelcorpse, Kreator, and Behemoth, the guys in Blasphemous Creation have a knack for delivering some tasty riffing, blazing solos, and pummeling blasts over which Isaac Wilson can spew his venom. "Serpent Queen" rages quite magnificently, and the opening title track kicks ass on so many levels. While not overly technical, some of the rhythms and riffs do get a bit complex at times, with "The Storm God", "Age of the Ram", and "Fall of Kingu" blasting away with furious precision that any fan of blackened & thrashy death metal will love.
As always, the lyrical content is well worth reading along to, with tales of battles and bloodshed running rampant, and the CD artwork, full lyrics and photos are a cool bonus as well. The Rise of Marduk is another solid 2015 release that we are getting to a little late here in the very early stages of 2016, but better late than never!
