Although it is much maligned, there's much to be said for the heads down boogie rock and roll that Status Quo have very much made their own over the years and with bands like Norway's Hercules, it looks like a style of music that is set to stay around for some time to come. There's no getting away from the fact that Hercules basically sound like a combination of classic era Quo and the resurgent sound that band have found over their last three or four albums. However there's also no getting away from the fact they do it extremely well. Bouncy boogieing riffs are the order of the day, and with singer Vermund Moss doing his best Francis Rossi impressions and the rest of the band adding excellent backing vocals the results are simply great rock 'n' roll fun in the way this music should be. Yes it's all a little simple and no there are no surprises, but music should make you smile and with Rockwaves Hercules have me grinning from ear to ear! Time to break out the air guitars!!!!!
