77: Nothing's Going to Stop Us

Nothing's Going to Stop Us is the latest Century Media release from Spain's hard rock act 77, and while it's pretty apparent that the band more than worship the early material of classic AC/DC and KISS, that's no reason not to enjoy this set of upbeat tunes. This is good time, '70s styled hard rock, the band clearly having a penchant for Bon Scott era AC/DC, all the way down to Armand Valeta's lead vocals and his brother LG's punchy guitar solos, but they've also embraced the anthemic quality of all those great KISS songs from that same time period. Tracks like "Come & Join Us", "It's Alright", "Street Dogs" and "Tightrope" contain some memorable hooks and bright, crunchy guitar riffs, all feisty tunes that will prompt you to raise your beer and get the air guitar going. On the downside, a few of these tunes are fairly generic, like "We Want More Rock and Roll" and "She Makes Me", and, truth be told, many of these songs follow a similar pattern, but that's a characteristic that holds for much of the material of the two bands I mentioned earlier, so, if you love this sort of thing, Nothing's Going to Stop Us will be a lot of fun and a very welcome listening experience.
