Revenge: Behold.Total.Rejection

It doesn't get more extreme than this folks...just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, along comes the latest release from Canadian black/death metal horde Revenge to rip your head right off. Basically the brainchild of one J. Read, who writes the lyrics, plays drums, and delivers the violent vocals, the band is augmented by guitarist Vermin and bassist Haasiophis, both of whom help out with the singing (if you can call it that) during live settings. Behold.Total.Rejection does not let up for one second, as jackhammer blast beats relentlessly batter you senseless, accompanied by furious guitar riffing and a maddening cacophony of screams, growls, shrieks, grunts, raps, burps, and bellows. I will state it right here, this album will not be for everyone, and truth be told, it's probably a very small segment of the metal population that's going to love something this over-the top brutal. There's just no end in sight, nowhere to hide, and no rest for the wicked, as tracks like "Wolf Slave Protocol (Choose Your Side)" and "Silent Enemy" just render the listener into a sniveling, squirming pile of pulverized goo. The occasional guitar solo is more than welcome to offset the constant barrage of blasts & evil vocals, which after a while becomes just too much to take. While there is without a doubt an audience for stuff this brutal, certainly for most Behold.Total.Rejection will prove to be a love it or hate it type of experience. I'll let you all be the judge.
