Deseized: A Thousand Forms of Action

Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Deseized are an intense and crushing Metal band that fuses Progressive technicality with the brutality of Hardcore. This 5 piece band make no excuses and their wallop is instant and unrelenting.

A Thousand Forms of Action is a 5 track EP that finds the band stepping up their game. Songs are both catchy and ferocious with that Progressive time change thing happening all over the place. Deseized are not a Djent band but do have that heaviness to Prog ratio within their tunes but without any atmospheric interludes, instead they get down to business straight away. CD opener, "Divides" leads you down a path with its little intro and then BAM, you are throat punched and then it's on! The hyper crunch guitar riff of the aptly named, "Sledgehammer Suicide" reminds me of the staccato riffing of the Canadian Metal band, Threat Signal, and is easily my favorite track of the 5 included here. But not to be completely outdone is the killer "Patterns Within Patterns" with a Between The Buried And Me flavor that features some nice use of both clean and harsh vocals.

With top notch musicianship all around, Deseized's A Thousand Forms of Action was a welcome surprise. The guitar playing falls right in line with the modern day shred and the riffs....oh man the riffs! The EP is very well produced which just adds to the heavy and with great songwriting comes great songs. I had never heard of Deseized until now and I for one am very happy that this release came across my desk, this record is Heavilicious!!
