Solution .45: Nightmares In The Waking State-Part 1

Some time has past since the excellent debut of For Aeons Past from Solution .45 and now the time has come when disc #2 is unleashed unto the world. Nightmares In The Waking State-Part 1 (AFM Records) is the sophomore effort from Solution .45 and it continues with the Scar Symmetry-like clean/harsh vocal styling's of Miseration, Torchbearer and former Scar Symmetry vocalist, Christian Ålvestam. The band itself has endured various lineup changes since their debut but has persevered with an even heavier and more focuses 2nd record.

Nightmares In The Waking State-Part 1 is filled with 7 string heavy grooves on top of Progressive structures that make this easily recognizable as a Solution .45 record. Playing to their strengths of Prog meets clean/harsh vocals meets over the top guitar work, Solution .45 have stepped it up a notch with their overall aggressive and heaviness. Beginning with the CD opener, "Wanderer From The Fold", the brutality of the track is a great way to kick off a record and then comes the manic and crushing riffing of track #2, "Perfecting The Void". Strap in people, you are on a furious and uber heavy ride that also features the elegant clean vocals from Ålvestam coupled with the graveled as well. How he goes from the monster like growls to the angelic melodic vocals is unreal! The sonic production is excellent and musicianship is top notch with stellar guitar performances dialed in by Jani Stefanovic and Patrik Gardberg.

Melodic while featuring all things heavy and on the border of maniacal, Nightmares In The Waking State-Part 1 and the all new Solution .45, Christian Ålvestam-Vocals, Jani Stefanovic and Patrik Gardberg-Guitars and Rolf Pilve-Drums, have unearthed a formula that is instantly and recognizably them. The band's new exploration contains all the ingredients that For Aeons Past"was known for but with added groove, aggression and darker elements. A dynamic journey from soft moody parts to soaring aggressive, darker elements. The end result being something that older fans will find familiar with a heavier upside and new fans with dive into head first. This is a excellent Swedish Melodic Death Metal release and a great Metal way to go out of 2015.
