Of Infinity: Essence of Infinity (demo) Posted by Dean Pierce, SoT Staff Writer on 2005-01-13 10:55:39 My Score:
Of Infinity is a female – fronted melodic metal band that bases itself in San Antonio, Texas. To describe their music words such as Gothic, dark, elegant, powerful, sophisticated, and passionate are fitting terms. One thing that strikes me immediately about this project, is how everything they do is so well thought out. From the musical arrangements, to the presentation and promotion of the band, even the name of this 3 song release The Essence Of Infinity. These are 3 prime cuts of Gothic metal that radiates a dark beauty that in all honesty took my breath away when I gave it a listen! They do an excellent of literally capturing the essence of infinity's music within these 3 songs… The level of talent in this band is formidable. Vocalist Allesandra Zinicola, is a graduate of the Trinity College of London and also is a former Utah Opera and Symphony composer. Guitarist Nazareth Sando is a guitar instructor in addition to being Of Infinity's axe shredder. It's really no wonder that the arrangements to the songs on this EP are so well thought out and organized, because it simply reflects how every aspect of this band is so carefully thought and executed. Now to the songs themselves… The opening track "The Voice Without" blends a dark speed metal fury with the elegance of a harpsichord, Allesandra's sweet vocal, and a slower section which features a piano. The second song "Shadow Of A Lie" is slower in tempo and features a violin performance by Berklee college graduate Emily Hesterman. The final track "It's Only For Forever" has a sort of bluesy rhythm blended with an over all medieval feeling. The result is very enchanting, and yet another example of how this band excels at blending different musical colors and shades to the maximum effect. I see a very bright future for this band. With Gothic metal gaining momentum in the United States, with bands such as Evanescence, there is certainly room for a band that combines music that will certainly appeal to this market with European style sophistication and neoclassical elements. I really look forward to the first full length release from this band, and I have no doubt whatsoever that it will the potential to gain a big following on both sides of the Atlantic!
