Audiotopsy: Natural Causes

Heavy, Melodic with huge hooks and big chugging guitars is what the debut record, Natural Causes from the new Metal band, Audiotopsy, delivers. Featuring former members of Mudvayne, Hellyeah and Skrape, Audiotopsy capture the elements that made their former bands so good with an added excitement to create their new music with their own unique vision of a modern heavy sound.

Audiotopsy are former Mudvayne and Hellyeah guitarist-Greg Tribbett, fellow ex-Mudvayne drummer-Matt McDonough, former Skrape vocalist-Billy Keeton (if you've never heard Skrape's 2001 debut New Killer America, do yourself and look it up!) and bassist Perry Stern. The quartet's 12 song debut is a groove-laden, heavy disc that fans of any of the members former bands will totally be into. The album opener "Headshot", sets the table for what is Natural Causes. It's crushing riff coupled with Keeton's manic and throaty vocals with a great hook that simply pulls you inside and grabs you by the throat. Tribbett's riffing was a staple to Mudvayne's sound and those types of riffs are all over this debut. "The Calling" is a powerful, haunting, slow grinder with a powerful chorus while the brooding sludgy and detuned, "Disguise Your Devils" has an almost Korn meets Fear Factory vibe to it.

Natural Causes is a powerful debut from a new band that sounds like a great sum of its members parts. Audiotopsy is not only a great name, but a really solid record. Heavy, powerful with a groove and intense vocals is what the band is all about. Missing Mudvayne? Check these guys out, you'll be glad that you did.
