Brimstone: Raise A Glass

What happens when you combine Black Label Society, Motorhead and Corrosion of Conformity? You get the likes of the balls out and raucous Queensland, Australia duo that is Brimstone, who have just released their debut album, Raise A Glass(Flithpipe Records).

Raise A Glass contains 10 straight up in your face, alcohol drenched, high octane Heavy Rock that sounds like it was as fun to make as it is to listen to. Brimstone are Boris Billing (Drums/Vocals-from the band Weapon Head) and Peter Black (Guitar and everything else-from Brisbane area bands Sevidica and Nefaria) and this duo does their best to deliver what they describe as 'Beer Metal' ranging from great titled and heavy rockers like the exuberant "Oxygen Thief", to the groove of "She Bitch" or "Viking Lord" and it's Orange Goblin-like muscular feel with Billing's almost Ian Astbury meets Layne Staley vocals and Black's thick and menacing guitar riffs and solid lead breaks.

Not to be a one trick pony, Brimstone also slow things a tad a shows their sensitive side with the 90's styled, "Level Ground", where Billing gets pull back and sing a bit more melodically. Overall, Raise A Glass is a manly, riff heavy romp that will find a home with Heavy Rock fans, worldwide. If you're a fan of cleverly crafted Heavy Rock songs delivered with an attitude, a sense of humor and power, then Brimstone is a band for you. Raise A Glass to a Beer chugging, trouble inducing record. Cheers!
