Who would have ever thought that the pairing of a cello and a piano could create music this beautiful? Tölt is the debut album from the group/duo called Flying Hórses, who are comprised of Jade Bergeron (Piano, Wurlitzer, Celesta, glockenspiel, bells, chimes, and music boxes) and Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Acoustic cello, amplified cello, and delay pedals). Those who follow our site regularly have probably seen Raphael's name before through some of his other projects, and on this latest he and Jade have created some haunting, at times dark chamber/prog/classical styled music that features soaring melodies, and plenty of lush, alluring instrumentation. The bulk of the heavy lifting is done by the piano & cello, and it's a wonderful pairing, but the occasional Wurlitzer or various chimes & bells do pop up on occasion to add some spice to the mix. Highlight tunes are easily "Amble", "Carousel", and the title track, but be prepared for the absolutely stunning "Dollhouse", a gorgeous piece with piano melodies that will tug at your heart and cello passages that will leave you reaching for a box of tissues to wipe away the tears of joy. This is really magical stuff for those who enjoy the more classical side of the spectrum.
