Killer Refrigerator: The Fridge and the Power it Holds

Do you know it was actually my kids who said, Dad, you simply cannot pass up listening to a band called Killer Refrigerator, with a song called "Killer Refrigerator VS Godzilla" on an album named The Fridge And The Power It Holds. So against my better judgement I hit download and here it is… an album of amazing thrash proportions with mad death battle cries and vintage gaming bleeps and bloops!

By rights, this should be utter tosh and yet with utterly manic squeals and shouts, unrelenting guitars and an eye for a killer blast of metal, Killer Refrigerator actually make for a mighty fine thrash, punk, metal crossover. Lyrics about fridges bowing down to the toiletries, merely being the, eh… icing round the bowl? Yes it's hard to take this stuff seriously, yet it's actually hard not to take the music for what it is, bloody excellent - and then giggle, chortle and guffaw at the ridiculousness of the whole thing as Godzilla comes into play after the spaghetti balls failed to kill him (as they were meant to), instead giving him more power to fight the Killer Refrigerator… How does it all end? Well, I can't spoil that one can I?

The second in a planned three part Killer tragedy, this mini-album (around 22 minutes) feels like something that's actually been put together with a lot of care and attention. The madness is calculated to be bizarre and OTT, without ever tumbling in on its own stupidness. And to be fair, there's no denying that the music itself is enough to carry the album, even if it didn't have lyrics that are genuinely good fun and a real antidote to some of the utterly up itself fare that often masquerades under this style of music. In fact, in many ways, this could be seem as Devin Townsend's Ziltoid with a huge stick of refrigerated dynamite up its ass.

Mad? You betcha! Bad? In all the right ways! Dangerous to know? Well, would you get in the way of a killer refrigerator? I sure as hell won't, but I sure will be listening out for the third part in this saga…
