Kingcrow: Eidos

After releasing such a fine album as In Crescendo Kingcrow the talented Italian progressive rock/metal group continue to raise the bar. Prior to this album Kingcrow had signed to the American label Sensory Records and the positive widespread reception for In Crescendo presented Kingcrow with the opportunity to tour North America supporting Pain Of Salvation, and the band also performed at Progpower USA.

With a sound that ranges from lighter acoustic to rocking out heaviness and an array of influences including the likes of Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd and Opeth to name just a few. Yes at times that inspiration is noticeable though Kingcrow is still very much a band who have their own identity. So in 2015 how then does Eidos their new and sixth release stack up? Well Kingcrow have pushed themselves even further this time delivering their most technical recording thus far, though it is a very accessible album as they haven't gone overboard. With gripping tracks like the first progressive rocking number "The Moth", and then there is "Adrift" which is quite a technical tune reminiscent in part of Opeth including vocally, with that appealing prominent bass sound that you find on this album and more of Kingcrow's fine musicianship this is a great song. "Slow Down" is a cool tune with highlight being the dynamic nstrumental section, speaking of which that is something that Eidos sure isn't short of. Eidos has so much more fine progressive material that follows all the way to it's striking and adventurous conclusion with the title track and "If Only". Eidos is also a concept album being "the third part of a trilogy about the path of life" continuing on from those two prior releases Phlegethon and In Crescendo.

Kingcrow haven't wasted anytime promptly following up 2014's In Crescendo with Eidos another high quality progressive recording.
