Dark Hound: Oceans

I seem to have made a bit of an error with my reading of this self-released EP from Nashville's Dark Hound; namely that this isn't a fairly generic modern rock record which is what it sounds like to me. ET Brown, vocalist and bassist from the band says, "Though we live in the capital of Country music, Nashville really is Music City, USA. There is such a rich and diverse musical community in this town, you don't have to go too far off Broadway to escape the honky-tonks filled with tourists in boots and cowboy hats and find amazingly talented musicians from all walks of life playing all sorts of great music. I think where we're from is an important factor as to why we don't sound like your typical modern-day metal group." Personally I find that Dark Hound very much remind me of Velvet Revolver which is cool as I like them. The press release references Iron Maiden and Megadeth, neither of which I find here but songs like the excellent "Just as Blind" and the slithery "Rearview Mirror" suggest that the band has what it takes to stand out from the crowd.
