Who are Art of Anarchy? Featuring the legendarily temperamental vocalist, Scott Weiland, along with lead guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-Guns N' Roses), bassist John Moyer (Disturbed,) the band started out of an 18-year friendship between Bumblefoot and the Votta brothers Jon and Vince), dating back to the local New York music scene. Jon Votta approached Bumblefoot with the idea of putting together a unique new rock band that would have people talking. They had the idea that Weiland would be the ideal man to front the "band".
Note well that I placed the word band in italics in the previous paragragh as it appears that Weiland considers that his work on the record was more as a paid session man. So it seems that this debut album isn't by a real group rather, it's one of those dreaded "projects." When that's all said and done there are some pretty fine moments on the album such as the really rather lovely "Til the Dust Has Gone" and "Death of It" which sounds more like Stone Sour than one might care to admit. I could definitely imagine both of these tracks getting radio exposure. "Death of It" is also the song with the best, most concise, straight-to-the-point guitar solo on the record which, in the main could have actually done with more Bumblefoot as sadly; much of the rest of the album is fairly lumpen and uninspired.
