Swedish act Enforcer are back with another platter of solid NWOBHM styled music for Nuclear Blast, this one titled From Beyond. Much like Night Demon have done with their recent Curse of the Demon release, Enforcer also have successfully transported the listener back to 1982, when bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon, Diamond Head, and Satan were catching the attention of metal fans around the world. Speedy double bass drumming, furious riffs, tasty guitar leads, strong vocals, and anthemic heavy metal choruses abound on From Beyond, so if it's fast driving, catchy metal you crave, you've come to the right place.
Some of the most memorable, enjoyable songs here are the ones that gallop along at a fast pace and really go for the jugular, like "Destroyer", "One With Fire", and "Undying Evil", but even the more brooding, atmospheric numbers such as "Below the Slumber" and the title track have a lot to offer. Iron Maiden & Satan fans will absolutely love the blazing instrumental "Hungry They Will Come", which is chock full of tasty guitar solos, and both "The Banshee" and "Hell Will Follow" are manic speed metal rippers guaranteed to get your head a banging!
Perhaps not an album that is going to change the world, From Beyond is still a hell of a lot of fun and sure to strike a chord with any metal fan who loves those vintage sounds of the early days of the NWOBHM movement. Enforcer are just another in a long line of Swedish metal acts who really have done a great job at harnessing classic sounds for the modern world.
