In my review of Iced Earth's last release Plaques Of Babylon I mentioned the notable contributions from drummer at the time Raphael Saini. Listening to Raphael's performances on that album it was no wonder that Iced Earth had called on his services, and now Raphael and former Visions Of Atlantis vocalist Maxi Nil have recorded the first album with the metal group they founded in 2013. That band is Jaded Star, and along with guitarist Kosta Vreto (Horizon's End, Wardrum) and on bass is Babis Nikou (Astral DNA, Opened Paradise, Dia Mageias) so Jaded Star are a well-equipped unit. Besides working on their first recording Jaded Star have been hitting the stages performing live with many prominent metal groups including Therion, Leave's Eyes, Sirenia and Epica.
Memories From The Future is the title of Jaded Star's debut, and this is one catchy and powerful melodic metal compilation, that was produced by Maxi Nil while guitarist/producer Fredrik Nordstromand mixed and mastered the album. Just like this band's music leading lady Maxi Nil's vocals are very appealing, she has a range and style that really complements Jaded Star's modern style. It would seem that bass player Babis Nikou not only shares the song writing duties with Maxi Nil but is also the one behind the keyboards, which do have a strong role in Jaded Star's sound. From the energetic opener "The Mask" to the strong closing number "Raining In Sao Paolo" Memories From The Future has its share of quality songs so the positives are indeed many for this new band.
