Carpathian Forest: We're Goin To Hollywood For This- Live Perversions (DVD)

An evening of Norwegian black metal served up only the way that Carpathian Forest could, with plenty of dark makeup, a filthy, overweight and clad-only-in-a-jockstrap bass player, two dancers (also overweight and decidedly nude and deeply unattractive), plus all the musical violence, aural assault, that you'd want to fix your ears on. In short, none of it's pretty and you get the impression that Carpathian Forest ain't into no joking around.

Best stuff from the live show includes stomach-churning versions of "It's Darker Than You THink," "The Well Of All Human Tears," Mask of the Slave," "Carpathian Forest" and "Bloodlust and Perversion," but that's just sort of a thumbnail. Taken as a whole, it's an experience that you won't soon forget.

But the concert's only the beginning of the battle––there is a treasure trove of extra footage (and audio material) here, including a professionally shot look at the band's famous Wacken Open Air Festival appearance in 2003, a videoclip for "Carpathian Forest," no fewer than eight audio tracks (including a demo for "Nostalgia"). There's a closer look at the preproduction for Defending The Throne Of Evil and a number of bootleg performances including a fine reading of "Doomed To Walk The Earth As Slaves Of The Living Dead."

Extreme in the extreme with plenty of disturbing nudity, self-violence and reference to south-end bodily functions to keep away the weak of heart and weak of stomach.
