Swedish hard rockers Dirty Passion are back with their follow up to In Wonderland, calling it simply Dirty Passion , released on Denomination Records / Transubstans Records. As this is their third release and with plenty of touring under their belt, the band seems to be firing on all cylinders here, the writing & playing tight, crisp, and confident. The bands sound is still rooted in late '80s hard rock/metal, and the songs here pack a bit of a punch but still carry that commercial edge that made music from that era so endearing. Kriss' vocals sound very much like Robin MacAuley (ex-Grand Prix/MacAuley Schenker Group/Survivor) and he soars over melodic hard rock far like "Hallelujah", "Bitch", and the explosive "Get Back", each one chock full of catchy hooks and plenty of guitar firepower courtesy of Chrisse. Sure, some of the tunes here have cliche written all over them, namely "Bad Karma", "Los Angeloser", and "42 Nights", but that doesn't make them any less fun or enjoyable. I mean, it's not hard to thrust your fist in the air and get into the anthemic sounds of "Die Free", and that's kind of the M.O. of this entire album; Dirty Passion delivering crunchy, hook laden party metal that doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. As long as you aren't expecting the reinvention of the wheel, Dirty Passion brings the sleazy hard rock & metal goods quite solidly.
