Deanmoore are a power rock trio from The Netherlands based out of the town of Lichtenvoorde. In the band are Nils Wiegerinck (vocals, guitar), Harmen Stortelder (bass) and Roel Stoltenborg (drums).
They formed in 2007 and their brand new EP Illusions is their fourth release. If you enjoy the music of Tool and Karnivool I think you might like this album. This is a tight band with good dynamics and excellent guitar riffs. The riff progressions are interesting and this is where the band earns the progressive tag. The vocals are also solid as Wiegerinck has a pleasantly melodic voice.
Songs like "The Progressionist" and "Waves" are what this band is all about. Edgy riffs generating a moody atmosphere to go along with the slightly melancholic vocals. The riff infused heavy prog continues with the title track and its calming arpeggio guitar intro. The music winds between softer and heavier guitar supported by Wiegerinck's emotive lead vocals. "Untouchable" is not as strong as the previous tracks but still a decent enough heavy rock tune while the album ending "Superimposter" is another slice of melodic heavy prog with some of the best riffs on the disc.
While you won't find much in the way of solos here, if you like riff based progressive rock Deanmoore should give you plenty of enjoyment. A solid effort and a well-earned 3.5 stars.
