The first two albums by the Italian power/progressive metal group Dragonhammer are being re-released by My Kingdom Music with changes to the artwork and additional tracks. First up we have The Blood Of The Dragon their 2001 debut, and you can find the album which Dragonhammer followed this one up with Time For Expiation covered elsewhere in our recent reviews. So with The Blood Of The Dragon you basically get new digital artwork, the original album plus two live numbers recorded whilst on tour in 2014.
On The Blood Of The Dragon Dragonhammer present a buoyant Euro power metal sound, with a rewarding balance of guitars and keyboards as displayed on opener "Legend". They do like their epic metal as "It's War" is a brief inclusion featuring the cinematic sounds of battle before they unleash the vibrant "Dragonhammer", and they tell of "The Age Of Glory" where their vocal harmonies shine through. Dragonhammer apply the brakes for "Scream" the first of two ballads like tracks and their power metal recommences on "You Kill". If you already have Dragonhammer's earlier albums then the extras made available here probably don't warrant the need to purchase these recordings again. Though for anyone else well now that's a whole different story, here is your chance to get hold of two worthwhile power/progressive metal albums, and the work of yet another impressive Italian metal band.
