This is the second Dragonhammer re-release with three bonus tracks and was originally made available in 2004, titled Time For Expiation this album would be the last Dragonhammer recording for quite some time. That is until the skilful Italian power metal group eventually returned with album number three The X Experiment in 2013.
Dragonhammer really delivered this time after showing so much promise on their debut The Blood Of The Dragon . As a result Time For Expiation is a stronger album and while not a complete change as Dragonhammer hadn't deserted that Euro power metal and they were still presenting such a rich keyboard sound that didn't take a back seat. There was some shifting in style like the progressive touches and the hooks are more prevalent on Time For Expiation. Dragonhammer just recorded songs that were simply more memorable. Standout tracks include the very good "Eternal Sinner" with an imposing vocal performance, that entrancing music of "Believe" with vocals to match, and "Fear Of A Child", "Blind Justice" and the title track.
Other similar groups have tried to evolve their sound and not all have had such a positive outcome, and it's a shame that Dragonhammer couldn't maintain that momentum at the time and release a follow up to Time For Expiation much sooner.
