Guitarist and vocalist Matt Lupo is Opul and here supplies all instruments including bass and drums in a package described by his records label as being of value to, "fans of 90s progressive/post-hardcore experimentation, modern progressive crossover and soulful folk/indie rock, with fragments of everything from Quicksand, Sensefield, Shift, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Dredg and labelmates Maid Myriad." I don't necessarily consider myself as being a particular fan of any of the aforementioned genres or bands and didn't initially grasp the quality of the music on levels but repeated plays really do reveal some complex, thoughtful and at times blissful progressive music. The key word in the record label's description is "soulful" and this is obviously heartfelt, passionate music which definitely enriches the listener's live. Great cover art as well so what's not to like?
