Wyld: Stoned EP

Wyld is a promising heavy rock band hailing from Paris. Even though this release is only about 13 minutes long, the music is consistently big and heavy. The songwriting is streamlined and straightforward—mostly heavy riffs, bluesy solos (and bluesy singing). The results are both exciting and promising. As I listened, I often thought back to my teenage years, the days when I first started playing the guitar. Back then, I would jam on power chords for hours trying to develop the sound and the feel of my guitar heroes. The music here reminds me of those days because the music hearkens back to the heavy rock of an earlier time, days when most heavy music grooved and sounded bigger than life. Fans of heavy rock, the kind with the aforementioned big riffs and bluesy solos, will probably want to check this one out.
