The Fateful Dark is the latest release from the UK's Savage Messiah, a band that have done a pretty good job over the years mixing up classic European power metal, classic metal, and Bay Area styled thrash for a potent brew of high octane music. This new platter of metal delivers the goods once again, fast paced rippers like "Iconocaust", "Cross of Babylon", and the raging "Hellblazer" saddle alongside more melodic fare like "Minority of One" and "Live as One Already Dead" quite nicely. The vocals of Dave Silver are spot on throughout, and he and fellow guitarist Joff Bailey have put together a compelling selection of tasty riffs & blazing solos on most of these songs. "Zero Hour" is another strong track, full of majestic metal riffs and thunderous rhythms courtesy of bassist Stefano Selvatico & drummer Andrea Gorio, as the band touch on an epic feel that works from start to finish.
If you are a fan of classic sounding heavy metal that's delivered with plenty of class, make sure you check out The Fateful Dark, an album that shouldn't be overlooked here in 2014.
