Brant Bjork and The Low Desert Punk Band: Black Flower Power
Described by the peeps at Napalm Records,"as a cult figure of the Palm Desert scene, as founder and drummer of the unfortunately no longer active Stoner-Rock legends Kyuss and a permanent member of Vista Chino (formerly KYUSS Lives!)…Brant Bjork is washed with all (musical) waters. Now he is sailing under his own flag and proves once again that his multi-instrumental skills know no creative boundaries." Ordinarily stoner rock tends to make me want to crawl under a rock and die, however, Brant Bjork and his comrades have pulled a rabbit out of the metaphorical hat with Black Flower Power.
It may well because this is generally more upbeat than the norm within the genre and the opening punch of "Controllers Destroyed" and "We Don't Serve Their Kind" are probably more classic rock than anything else and very much toe tappers. Early Black Sabbath in a decent mood was a thought which came to mind during "Stokely Up Now" and "Boogie Woogie On Your Brain" sounds like a cross between ZZ Top and Hawkwind which is very much a good thing much like the album as a whole.
